“What set do you bang?” “What that red be like?” “What that blue be like?” These are all questions being uttered more and more in today’s school system and society. Gang related students have plagued our living quarters and learning environments for decades. In the past few years their numbers have inflated tremendously. They have become a force to be reckoned with and based on copious research; statistics from the National Alliance of Gang Investigators Association show that they are still growing. Journalist Gary Burnett states, “one-half to two-thirds of all gang members stay with the gang for a year or less (Burnett). The numbers of gang related students have risen dramatically. They have evolved from small groups of friends into an entourage of vicious teens who are willing to do whatever it takes to earn respect. Either way they are a threat to society as a whole and need to be researched and stopped immediately.
